The History Of Casinos
It was in the 17th century that the first casino was built in Italy. These were mainly clubs for the posh and elite. The clubs were referred to as "ridotti". As per the historical records, they were also used as summer houses known as "casa". This is the main origin of the word or term casino. Like the elite, other classes also started to gamble, and so, the history of the casino began. All over Italy, casinos were built and they were soon legalized.
The first casino ever built was called Casino di Venezia, and it was launched in Venice in the year 1698. Everyone was allowed to gamble there and there were quite a lot of games. This grand old casino was again reopened in the 20th century. After that lots of other European cities also started to open casinos to cater to its growing popularity.
Baden Baden Casino was the most posh and extravagant casino of the 18th century. This casino was extravagantly made and wonderful to look at. It also became a tourist attraction and a popular spot for gambling. Soon France became the center for gambling and casinos. Another wonderful casino that was built in Monaco was Monte Carlo. It still receives a lot of people for gambling. In the United States, gambling first started among the middle-class people like traders, miners, etc. These people used to go to the casinos, order a drink and start gambling. So, this is how the casino originated and evolved into what it is today.
