Intro To Joker Poker

The video poker variation known as Joker Poker is different from some other forms of poker in that the deck you play it with is one more than you are normally used to finding in a standard deck. That means 53, and the reason for it is that a Joker is included. Another thing is that the Joker is wild, meaning it can be anything you want it to be (and of course, you want it to complete a winning hand). Generally, four decks are used to play this game. And there are no restrictions on what you can do to improve your hand. You can hold all your cards, or discard them and get new cards. It's all up to you.

The payouts in Joker Poker start at Kings or better, and then progress to two pairs, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, Joker Royal Flush, Five of a kind (obviously possible because of the Joker), and Natural Royal Flush, which brings the highest payout of all, whether or not the player has a maximum bet out. Of course, for that to pay off at its maximum, the max amount of coins must be played. When the Natural Royal Flush (so named because it is one achieved without the benefit of a joker) is achieved with a one coin bet, the payoff is 750 coins. When the maximum bet is out, the payout is 5000 coins. So you can see the difference between playing small and getting that maximum bet out there. The player can wager anywhere from one coin to five coins per hand, with denominations of 25¢, 50¢, $1, $5 and $10.

The thing about joker poker games is that it is somewhat "top-heavy," with big reward for big risk. It offers smaller payouts for the lower-rated hands that are attained, but pays off at a higher rate than most video poker variations for those higher-rated hands that are moe difficult to achieve. If your objective in video poker is to hit big, this could be the variation for you to try.
